Sara Brown was born in Co Down, Northern Ireland. She graduated in Fine Art Painting from Loughborough College of Art in 1984 and now lives and works on the shores of Strangford Lough. She finds inspiration in the outstanding beauty of the Peninsula and its views. In pastel and more recently ink on metal plates, Sara’s images reflect the light on field patterns and changing tides of the Lough. The pastel images are direct interpretations whereas the ink on metal plates are semi abstract recollections of the islands and shorelines of the Lough. "I am drawn as an artist to make images which reflect sea, sky and land, and how the light at different times affects the visual qualities. The still glow of fragile grey light varies the focus on islands and shorelines. Taking inspiration from things I see every day, I aim to create a feeling of space and perspective, and to capture the colours and patterns which are irresistable to my eyes".
